THE ROLE & THE TEAM
As a Senior Controller (all genders) within the BFO Platform Capabilities team sitting in the Finance organization, you will be responsible for guiding, implementing and monitoring initiatives for the new Logistics Strategy from a financial perspective and support on the overall business case. You will own the financial case, align on inputs with various Zalando teams throughout the organisations, run simulations, quantify financial impact, derive data-driven decisions, consult senior management on best implementation options from a financial perspective. You define financial success KPIs and monitor them over time to optimize the structure and expansion of our European fulfillment network.
With more than 200 million orders, 525 million shipped items annually, Logistics is the back-bone of Zalando’s success story and our Logistics Controlling department is responsible for planning & monitoring the annual logistics budget of approx. 3 billion Euro.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

You’ll be part of the strategy implementation active shaping of Logistic’s Future operational setup, one of the key projects from the Zalando Strategy

You’ll take an active part in business case preparations and own the financial case. You will align on assumptions with your business stakeholders, secure input validation, build a robust case, set targets and control them for success monitoring. You’ll ensure the highest quality for all the mentioned processes steps

You’ll guide and mentor senior Logistics and Finance colleagues to set up their sub-calculations and analysis

You’ll participate in workshops throughout the Zalando organisation to align on inputs for the financial cases

You’ll strongly collaborate with other Finance Teams, esp. Logistics Controlling and Planning & Reporting Team within BFO Platform Capabilities (business unit controlling), securing valid starting points, assumptions and data inputs

You’ll come up with meaningful insights and output, deriving data-driven solutions for the senior Logistics Management Team

You’ll develop our internal tooling further and build the bridget to existing reporting products
WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

You have an university degree in economics, business administration, mathematics, statistics or similar disciplines and relevant experience in Controlling with a strong analytical/financial focus (Financial modelling, Analytical tooling, Excel Modelling, Planning & Reporting, business cases, among others)

You have at least 7 years experience in (project) controlling, logistics and/ or similar fields of expertise

You have a very good understanding of financials and excellent analytical skills with a passion for the latest tools & technologies (excellent knowledge in Office skills; Power Office tools etc would be a plus)

You have a controlling mindset with an ability to challenge & support our stakeholders with ad-hoc analysis to enable our growth strategy, understand key trade-offs and actively support business decisions

You can generate a good overview of a complex financial situation, draw correct conclusions and derive concise messages and recommendations

You are strong in stakeholder management, communication and project management

You are fluent in English. German is a plus. You have the capability to not only communicate clearly but also write structurally and understandably
