You will be joining a small, collaborative team to help guide the development and maintenance of content for a consumer-facing federal agency with an important educational mission. You will leverage your experience with user personas, content design, and development to deliver a cohesive, human-centered approach to web content. You will devise governance procedures and implement best practices in content creation and maintenance. You will be able to analyze analytics to uncover user behaviors and identify areas for improvement.
You will meet frequently with agency stakeholders to understand evolving business goals and objectives and refine the content approach to align with the agency's overarching mission.
Responsibilities:
- Draft communications plans in support of overarching content strategy efforts.
- Create a structured content plan to consolidate disparate, outdated, redundant, or trivial web content into a cohesive, intuitive structure and publishing workflow.
- Understand client needs and advocate on their behalf to ensure project success.
- Collaborate with team members as well as the client’s UX designers, visual designers, data analysts, and developers to optimize content elements.
- Provide insights on content elements based on usability, intuitiveness, consistency, and business metrics.
- Ensure all content incorporates digital best practices and meets both federal Section 508 compliance and plain language standards.
- Define content standards and track web metrics to inform content strategy.
- Conduct web content inventory analyses, site audits, and competitive assessments; analyze data to inform content strategy.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- 7-10 years of professional experience in content strategy.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (English, Communications, Journalism, Computer Science).
- Ability to undergo and pass a Public Trust security clearance.
- Experience implementing content strategies as part of cross-functional teams.
- Experience working within Agile design and development teams.
- Experience in writing, revising, sourcing, and aggregating content.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience using data and analytics to support strategy.
- Ability to interface with all levels of management.
- Willingness to work with the Department of Education.
