What you will do…
Under the guidance of the Manager - Ingredients, this position is responsible for the procurement of Chocolate and Thickeners. This position will be responsible for all the sourcing activities for chocolate and starches, ensuring high quality of materials, competitive pricing, adherence to company policies, procurement processes and endeavors related to the operation of a proactive and strategic procurement team. A special area of opportunity for the candidate will be to drive value across formula components that are not publicly traded for chocolate and starches, which are related to the merchandising of commodities.
- Develop and lead a strategy that aligns with business goals and procurement objectives. Evaluate and adjust strategies based on changing market conditions and provide inputs during strategic sourcing activities, RFPs, and negotiations.
- Drive value by bringing transparency, predictability, minimizing premiums, and by managing open book formulas for chocolate and starches.
- Analyze relevant markets, develop price expectations and work with Manager to formulate and implement price risk management strategies.
- Cross-functional champion for cost reduction or value enhancement that result in tangible benefits to the bottom line.
- Support efforts to resolve quality issues at plants, approval of new ingredients and suppliers and improve manufacturing and handling processes.
- Continuously improve upon personal skills – adopting continuous learning and skill development and seeking feedback.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly commodity projections, short- term and long-term planning budgets, and market updates to various business units.
What sets your team apart?
- Responsible for an ingredient spend of approximately $60MM that supports M&B, C-Snacks and Co-Manufacturing.
- Understanding of commodity futures and related markets for starches and chocolate.
- Analyze markets, develop a price forecast, and lead analytical work to understand price risk and opportunities for a short and long-term horizon.
- Ensure items are purchased in accordance with established policies and procedures by working closely with Corporate, Business Units and Plant personnel.
- Develop and utilize category/commodity knowledge to support business objectives and manage the sourcing process, negotiations, contract execution and management and continuous improvement.
- Lead cross functional groups to develop productivity programs that deliver Enabler and Total Procurement Value (TPV) targets.
- Assist in the development of Supplier Relationship Management programs that focus on Quality, Productivity, and Innovation.
- Become a Subject Matter Expert on spend, supplier performance, compliance, standards and specifications and industry benchmarks.
- Promote value engineering analyses to support ongoing performance improvement and cost reduction.
- Manage multiple projects at the same time, solve supply issues, and able to make decisions with partial information

What you bring to the table…
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2+ years procurement experience
It would be great to have…
- 3+ years' experience as buyer of ingredients, specifically commodities
- SAP experience preferred
- Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint experience and Power BI knowledge
- Lead projects and candidly influence audience towards decision making Independent, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical skills
- Curious about trends, market data, and strong attention to details
- Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills
Compensation and Benefits:
The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between
$83,100-$119,500
Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
