Who we are:

Nirvana is on a mission to harness the power of data to revolutionize commercial insurance and enable a safer world. We are bringing much-needed innovation into the legacy, trillion-dollar commercial insurance industry. We have developed cutting-edge predictive models that use real-time IoT data from billions of connected devices, allowing us to better understand and price risk. Our AI-driven platform fundamentally changes the way an insurance company operates with personalized risk scoring, faster underwriting, modernized claims, and proactive, data-driven insights to help customers prevent accidents.

We’ve already proven the scale—reaching well over $100 million in premiums and more than doubling year over year. Our data moat is growing exponentially with more than 20 billion miles of telematics data, leading to more predictive models and new insights into how we can better understand and reduce risk. Altogether, our loss ratio, efficiency, and customer experience are redefining what can be done in the industry.

With $170+ million raised, including an industry-leading Series C round in January 2025, we’re only accelerating our growth, with strong support from top-tier VCs including Lightspeed, General Catalyst, and Valor. Nirvana’s leadership team has previously helped scale multi-billion-dollar companies from scratch, including Samsara, Rubrik, and Flexport, and includes industry veterans from Hiscox, The Hartford, and RLI.

About the role:

We’re hiring several Business Operations Managers who will scope and execute upon a variety of initiatives across our fast-growing organization alongside a world class team that is committed to revolutionizing modern commercial insurance.

Reporting directly to executive team leaders, you will partner with many teams including Product, Marketing, Business Development, Claims, and Underwriting to craft and implement strategy and develop / enhance operations.

You will play a critical role in building the frameworks that enable Nirvana to launch new offerings and scale successfully and efficiently. Each week will bring a new set of projects and challenges, where success is measured by data-driven outcomes, and where you will have real ownership of and accountability to business results. Since we’re still in scrappy startup mode, there’s a lot of rolling up your sleeves and getting into the weeds to drive direct impact on a daily basis. We knock out today’s problems while balancing our need to build for the long-term.

Sample projects may include supporting business unit GMs scaling their commercial operations, launching new product offerings, and driving operational, process, and margin improvements across the business.

What you’ll do:

  • Strategy: Identify and drive the strategic thinking on key questions, issues, and roadblocks facing Nirvana using your business acumen.

  • Analysis & Insights: Conduct quantitative research and analysis that results in compelling takeaways and recommendations for our leadership team.

  • Impact & Execution: Take end-to-end ownership of critical operational processes, turning strategy into reality.

  • Planning / Reporting: Help develop and track critical operating metrics for relevant business unit(s) and communicate actionable insights to relevant stakeholders.

About you:

  • 5+ years of experience across management consulting, investment banking, private equity and/or business operations roles in high-growth companies.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.

  • Comfort working in a high growth, ambiguous environment.

  • Critical thinker - you aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo and make decisions.

  • Diplomatic - you know how to build coalitions and lead by persuasion.

  • Poised under pressure - you keep calm even when working through contentious situations and on tight deadlines.

  • Bias-to-action - you’re not afraid to get your hands dirty and stretch yourself.

  • Owner mentality - you take accountability for your actions and results.

  • Nice to have: MBA

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary & equity

  • Medical, dental & vision insurance

  • 401k with company match

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Hybrid-work environment, 3+ days/week in SF office
