Squarespace is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Media Platform team within the Building Blocks Platform Engineering group. The Media Platform team provides Squarespace engineers with a scalable, reliable, secure, and flexible platform for uploading, processing, managing, and serving media assets such as images, video, and audio. As a Senior Engineer on the team, you will build new platform features and support internal customers as Squarespace continues to scale.
You will report to the manager of Media Platform in our NYC office. This is a hybrid work opportunity with three days in the office.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:
- Design and implement systems and components within the Media Platform
- Explore new technologies that are at the forefront of image, audio and video technologies – processing, compressing, storage, streaming and serving.
- Ensure the availability of media systems essential to Squarespace users and businesses powered by Squarespace
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders and engineers to come up with the best solutions for the problems at hand
- Be a technical leader, and mentor within the team
Desired Experience:
- 6+ years of experience developing backend systems with Java and Spring in cloud environments (e.g. GCP)
- Experience with media content processing and delivery, including with CDNs
- Experience developing large-scale distributed systems. Familiarity with the behaviors of different transaction control and consistency models.
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as CockroachDB, MongoDB
- Experience leveraging
- Devops / infrastructure experience

Cash Compensation Range: $153,500 - $247,250 USD
Cash Compensation Range: $XX,000 - $XX,000 USD
The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors. In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock.
