Senior Backend Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to grow with our product development team. As a Backend Engineer, you will be involved in the product development process from early requirements, UX/UI design, implementation, delivery to production, as well as in design and implementation of improvements based on user feedback.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience

• 5+ years as an backend engineer

• Extensive knowledge and understanding of Java and Kotlin

• Experience building backend services using JVM

• Experience building relational databases, SQL

• Experience with Git, CI/CD 

• Familiarity with RESTful APIs 

• Familiarity with building micro-service 

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP)

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

• Familiarity with agile development methodologies

• Experience with test-driven development (TDD) and automated testing

• Understanding of security best practices in software development

• Experience with generative AI technologies and their applications in software development

• Proficiency in creating and working with technical designs and architecture documents

• Experience with graph databases, like Neo4j

Duties and responsibilities 

• Lead the design and implementation of complex backend systems and services

• Write high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code primarily in Java and Kotlin

• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices

• Create and review technical designs for new features and systems

• Contribute to the overall system architecture and technology stack decisions

• Ensure scalability, performance, and reliability of backend systems

• Work closely with product managers, UX designers, and frontend engineers

• Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives

• Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Implement unit tests and integration tests to ensure code quality

• Conduct and participate in code reviews to maintain high coding standards

• Stay updated with the latest backend technologies and industry best practices

• Propose and implement improvements to development processes and tooling

• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team

• Explore and evaluate new technologies, including generative AI, for potential integration into our stack

• Contribute ideas for new features or improvements based on technical insights and user feedback
