Job Description

FinanceScout24 & Moneyland are your Swiss digital partners for Finance and Insurance topics. With the motto “As digital as possible, as personal as desired”, we developed a great range of web applications and micro services that enable customers to compare and directly contract vehicle and home insurances, as well as personal credits.
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will:

• Design, implement, test, and deliver new features that empower thousands of users to make smarter financial decisions, improving transparency and accessibility in the financial industry
• Gather & refine business requirements and provide technical guidance, shaping the development of innovative solutions that directly address user needs and enhance the platform’s effectiveness
• Influence the tech stack and solutions, driving the evolution of our platform with your expertise
• Play a key role in product development, not just maintaining existing systems but actively driving improvements, migrations, and upgrades to better technologies
• Pair program with the team to solve more challenging problems, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing while ensuring robust and scalable solutions
• Ensure the quality, performance, and maintainability of our backend code, directly contributing to a seamless and reliable user experience across our platform

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working as a software engineer with expertise in PHP and the Yii framework
• Experience with a modern JavaScript framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.js is beneficial, but not required
• A strong grasp of modern software development practices, including test automation, architecture design and clean code principles, ensuring long-term maintainability and efficiency
• Strong software development practices (test automation, architecture, clean code)
• A strong sense of ownership and the ability to thrive in an environment where you can make a real impact
• Exceptional problem-solving and debugging skills, allowing you to tackle complex technical challenges with confidence and efficiency
• A passion for continuous learning and curiosity for new technologies and methodologies
• Experience working in agile, interdisciplinary teams, collaborating across functions to deliver high-quality solutions efficiently
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling smooth collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Fluency in spoken and written English, ensuring effective teamwork in an international environment
