Senior Backend Engineer (Java) - Recommendations and Ranking (all genders)

THE ROLE & THE TEAM

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to help us enhance our recommendation and ranking systems for customer-facing products. You’ll work on large-scale, high-throughput solutions using AWS and Kubernetes, contributing to scalable and efficient systems that improve the experience of millions of users. WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• Design, develop, and scale backend infrastructure to support our 51-million-strong customer base and future growth needs.

• Build and optimise large-scale, high-throughput solutions for ranking and recommendations, ensuring exceptional reliability, performance, and low latency on AWS and Kubernetes.

• Collaborate with leaders, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver innovative, production-ready solutions aligned with best practices in software development.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

• You have 5+ years of experience with proficiency in Java (optionally Scala), AWS, and Kubernetes, along with hands-on experience in Python and NoSQL databases.

• Proven ability to design, develop, and maintain backend systems in large-scale production environments, ensuring reliability and efficiency.

• Excellent communication skills with a record of leading organization-wide collaborations effectively.

• Strong ability to understand the broader context of customer problems, driving impactful and value-focused solutions.
