Reporting to the Manager Process Engineering, the Senior Automation Advisor’s primary efforts are maintaining and improving Terra Nova's Operational Technology (OT) systems focusing on applications, networking, and infrastructure.
Responsibilities:

Develop scope and execute application and networking/infrastructure changes to ensure safe, cyber secure, and highly reliable OT systems that meet Suncor and site operational needs and standards.

Identify and mitigate OT system obsolescence with proper life-cycle designing, planning and execution.

Develop change requests, lead and support management of change ensuring adherence to the Management of Change process.

Develop and maintain procedures and documentation to maintain and operate production critical OT systems.

Develop and maintain automation network maintenance strategies and performance monitoring requirements for the automation networks applications and hardware, including network compliance with relevant cyber security standards.

Develop and maintain reliability focused maintenance strategies for OT systems equipment.

Perform software support functions such as report generation / modification and database management.

Communicate with and provide technical support to the various users of the automation network equipment including operations, process engineering, production engineering, accounting, controls system and crude transportation departments.

Support automation controls engineers to manage and enhance automation network performance and maintenance.

Evaluate, collaborate with, and manage OT vendors and 3rd party contractors to implement a range of software and hardware modifications related to automation networks including initiation, management, revision, and verification of work.

Plan and execute and/or work with other Corporate project and internal IT/OT teams to deploy new technologies.

Provide commissioning and start up support to Terra Nova Sustaining Projects teams affecting OT systems.
Minimum Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or similar degree) or a certified technical certificate with 10+ years work experience in OT system and network environments

Must have demonstrated knowledge, skills, and experience with at least one of the following aspects:
-
OT applications
-
Database technologies
-
OT networking and infrastructure
-
Application of either in an industrial setting and/or in the petro-chemical oil and gas industry would be considered and asset

Proficiency in IT and OT infrastructure, scripting, virtualization, cybersecurity tools, and data analysis platforms.

Ability to understand and adapt solutions to a dynamic cyber risk landscape.

Proven ability to use critical thinking skills to identify and eliminate the root cause and assess risk in a fast-paced environment.

Demonstrated collaboration skills that enable you to build solid, positive relationships with diverse groups.

A continuous improvement mindset and able to seek greater knowledge and understanding.

Makes independent decisions required in planning, organizing and completing technical assignments.
