We are looking for an Associate or Senior Associate to join our Client Operations team. This role will enable you to develop your career working closely with BCI’s clients at one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.
This 16-month fixed term position offers all benefits available to permanent employees, with the option to work from either our Victoria or Vancouver office.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Associate/Senior Associate is responsible for distilling and transforming information from reporting content producers around BCI into clear, concise, and compelling reporting for BCI’s clients. They develop new reporting content within SS&C Vision FI, and handle and manipulate data within Dremio to create visually compelling, concise and accurate reports. The Associate contributes to continuous improvement, challenging and improving BCI’s investment reporting in order to better enable clients to fulfill their fiduciary obligations. The Associate will also be responsible for stepping outside of quarterly reporting in order meet the ad-hoc reporting and data needs of clients.
WHAT YOU BRING

Minimum of three years of relevant experience in a financial organization(s), or related business function

High attention to detail, and ability to produce accurate work under short timelines

University degree in Economics, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.

Holding or progressing towards a CFA designation is considered an asset.

Experience preparing and presenting investment strategy, investment risk, economic and market-related data.

Understanding of complex institutional investment portfolios (i.e. knowledge of equities, fixed income, hedge funds/liquid alternatives, private markets, and derivatives/overlay), underlying investment strategies, and alignment with achieving clients’ investment objectives.

Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Able to distill key themes/outcomes into a concise, engaging, and compelling narrative while tailoring the message to various client audiences and through different delivery mediums (e.g., reports, presentations, digital portals, and self-serve data access).

Experience using a variety of reporting/analytical tools, including Excel VBA, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, and PowerPoint.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
The Corporate & Investor Relations (CIR) department plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing BCI's relationships with its clients and stakeholders through world-class engagement and has three core functions: Client Partnerships, Strategic Communications and Corporate & Brand Communications. CIR is responsible for understanding the clients' needs and representing their interests within the organization, helping them develop investment strategies and policies, and communicating effectively with both internal and external audiences. Additionally, CIR manages BCI's media relations, government and industry partnerships, and is responsible for the company's brand and reputation management to ensure long-term success and stakeholder trust.
Overall, the CIR department is vital for ensuring stakeholder satisfaction, client retention, and the organization's long-term success, maintaining its position as a world-class, trusted and respected investment management organization.
The Client Partnerships branch works closely with clients to understand their needs and expectations, ensuring that BCI delivers value and meets their investment objectives. This includes regular communication, tailored solutions, and a commitment to transparency and trust.
WHAT YOU WILL GET TO DO

Contributes technical expertise to the delivery of BCI’s client reporting strategy

Produces and oversees the quality and content of 33 complete client reports per quarter using SS&C Vision FI
-
Reviews reports from a client lens, looking for gaps in commentary, inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and improvement opportunities

Reviews commentaries from content producers and ensure it is clear & concise, compelling, and relevant, and in compliance with the style guide and technical review checklist

Identifies areas of improvement and helps build organizational knowledge with commentary development from a client-centric lens

Contributes to the summarization of the quarterly reporting ‘story’ considering portfolio performance, markets, risk, and format this summary into an easily consumable speaking note format

Conducts technical commentary review of content (ISR, asset classes, KPIs, and more)

Supports with drafting commentary as needed

Works with asset classes to rectify issues as they come up in the commentary

Prepares presentations and communications as needed, with a focus on ease of understanding

Maintains and continuously enhances reporting within SS&C Vision FI. Is a business-owner of that tool post-implementation and owns the processes and systems to ensure long-term success

Looks for opportunities to build and improve report generation processes, data validations, and portfolio analytics to provide timely, accurate, and informative reporting to clients

Builds data and report validation processes to ensure what we report is accurate. Contributes to other quality controls for client reporting; ensure client deliverables/metrics are met while maintaining proper documentation with adherence to standards and industry best practices

Responds to client and internal data requests with an additional layer of analysis and data scrutiny. Goes beyond providing data, and proactively responds to the root questions, anticipating stakeholder follow-up questions. Finds proper solutions to resolve any data-related business requests, which may include building self-serve tools, utilizing the existing data marketplace/Vision FI for more use cases, etc.

Leads and guides associates to resolve more complex data requests, writes insightful commentaries, and builds more comprehensive data charts

Supports and collaborates with other CIR teams (i.e., Client Relations, Client Experience, and Corporate Communication) and with other internal departments (i.e., Asset Classes, ISR, and Finance) to enable efficient production and sharing of high-quality reporting content for client audiences
WHERE YOU WILL WORK
Work from our Victoria or Vancouver office. We are an in-person collaborative organization with the flexibility to work remotely 1-day a week.
SALARY RANGE
BCI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan and paid time off.
Depending on the skill level and relevant experience the successful candidate will be hired at one of the following levels with the annualized base salary range for this role:

Associate: CAD $87,000 - $105,000

Senior Associate: CAD $100,00 – $120,000
The base salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration to internal equity.
We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we operate and with consideration to internal equity and job structure. We aim for actual pay to be around the median of the market for target or expected levels of performance, and around the upper quartile of the market for excellent performance.
