What will you do at Ciena as an ASIC Design Engineer?
The Wavelogic family of products are widely used in Ciena's optical fiber transmission solutions, and are one of the main contributors to Ciena's success in the telecommunications industry. To further strengthen our team, we are looking for a hardworking ASIC Design engineer who will be involved in the design of these products, working within the top level integration team of digital design engineers, verification engineers and architects. Your role as an ASIC design engineer will be to contribute to the top level design and integration for ASICs in the Wavelogic family of products.
- As an ASIC design engineer, you are encouraged to read and understand the architecture and functional requirements specification document(s) and communicate and collaborate with systems engineers and architects
- You will be responsible for various RTL blocks used in the top level of the ASIC.
- You will adapt, maintain and support technology specific libraries in leading edge nodes as part of the common infrastructure used by all design teams.
- You will own and maintain various tool flows used in the top level assembly of the ASICs.
- You will work with various other internal teams (New Product Introduction, S/W teams) to develop lab scripts and provide support for early lab bring-up of the ASICs.
- You will work as part of a team and be required to report status updates on a regular basis
What technical experience and personal skills are required for this role?
- Electrical or computer engineering, computer science or other applicable scientific degree at the BEng/BSc or MEng/MSc level
- A highly motivated self-starter, able to work independently with minimal supervision but as part of a larger team.
- Ability to methodically tackle sophisticated technical problems.
- Excellent organization, written and oral (English) interpersonal skills
- Prior experience with various aspects of ASIC design and verification.
- Experience with programming languages such as: Verilog, System Verilog, Python. Familiarity with other scripting languages, object-oriented programming, C, C++, System C is an asset.
- This is a diverse role and the successful candidate should enjoy working on a variety of different tasks in the ASIC development process with the flexibility and problem solving skills to adapt to different challenges.

Compensation and Benefits
The annual pay range for this position is $100,600 - $161,100 CAD.
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission. In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, participation in 401(K) (USA) & DCPP (Canada) with company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company-paid holidays, paid sick leave, and vacation time.
