The Senior Art Director is responsible for touching every piece of the creative process and helping develop culture-first work as part of the creative team at Giant Spoon. You work on everything from integrated campaigns to experiential activations. From conception to production, you’ll be a steward of storytelling for our brand partners, bringing ideas to life through a myriad of formats and styles.
The ideal candidate understands the fundamentals of design and strives to make visually elevated work, all while collaborating with teammates across functions and departments, working most closely with a Senior Writer partner. We’re looking for someone who is dedicated to making innovative work that stirs shit up, across the advertising industry and culture at large. The ideal candidate should have experience with integrated campaign work and bring holistic thinking to executions.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a Senior Writer partner to ideate and create work that delivers on client goals and aligns with Giant Spoon’s mission to expand how audiences experience brands.
- Translates creative strategy into creative ideas, exhibiting a sophisticated understanding of client’s brand story, the cultural environment, the marketing approach and the competition.
- Work hand in hand with Senior Writer to create presentations that sell in a variety of projects across multiple channels, including the ideas as well as the design and layout of decks, pulling mood imagery, and comping bespoke visuals to sell the concepts.
- Support teams through all phases of the project form ideation through the production process including shoots.
- Work alongside the Creative Director to actually make the work — overseeing development and collaborating with the Production Team to keep the integrity of the creative.
- Present the work to creative leads and internal teams whenever needed; receive and implement feedback.
- Present work to clients passionately, articulately, and in a way that reflects an understanding of client goals/desires.
- Become acquainted with your clients, understanding their marketing approach, the environment in which they sell, and the type of work they’re interested in making.
- Stay curious and tapped into culture.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in Art Direction and conceptual creative work in an advertising agency, with a portfolio showing both strong conceptual and design skills
- Strong understanding of design, photography, typography, video, and various visual mediums.
- First successes in “big idea” generation for client brands
- Familiarity with and passion for conceptual thinking, campaign development, and cross-channel creative execution
- Advanced understanding of Adobe Creative Suite applications
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Effective written, verbal, and visual communicator
- Ability to collaborate creatively across departments and offices
- Ability to craft internal / external presentations and present in an engaging way
- Digitally connected, passionate about technology and innovation with an insatiable curiosity for how it applies to our industry
- Experience working with Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets) a plus
The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000. Salary is determined based on a wide range of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, job duties, and geographic location.
