THE ROLE
In this role, you are responsible for supporting the Manager, Accounting in a high performing accounting organization. You will achieve our financial reporting goals in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) by partnering with both internal and external resources. You will use advanced analytical and organizational skills to solve problems. This includes resolving day-to-day accounting issues and interacting with various teams to ensure proper accounting processes are in place and followed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or MBA in Accounting
- CPA required
- Three years of public accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP & internal controls
- Ability to research technical accounting issues
- Experience working in music publishing, media, technology, or some other IP-driven industry along with experience managing financial issues related to royalties and administration, is a plus
- Advanced analytical skills using Excel
- Detail oriented, and highly organized
- Self-starter and results driven with excellent problem-solving skills
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
YOU WILL EXECUTE THE MLC’S ACCOUNTING STRATEGY BY:
- Assisting in the development and documentation of Internal control policies and procedures
- Ensuring timely and accurate invoicing and collections of funding
- Reviewing all transactions for proper coding to ensure accuracy of our financial reporting
- Providing support for the annual audit
- Mastering the accounting software used and developing process improvements
- Working with internal and external partners to achieve our goals
- Applying critical thinking to manage decisions for data transparency
YOU WILL PARTICIPATE IN ALL ACCOUNTING EFFORTS BY:
- Assisting the controller with the month-end and year-end close process, preparing all financial statements timely, accurately and in compliance with GAAP
- Reviewing and preparing monthly account reconciliations, assessing adequacy of GAAP and escalating key items to management
- Using the banking software to enter wire transfers and reviewing the daily cash report
- Assisting the Finance team in managing a bottoms-up budgeting/forecasting process and variance analysis
