IMO Health is a clinical data intelligence business improving how data is used across the healthcare landscape. This position follows a hybrid work model, with three days onsite (Tuesday through Thursday) at our Rosemont HQ, Chicago, or Houston office.
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the Controller, our ideal partner will be a self-motivated, collaborative team player who is excited to roll up their sleeves and has a strong foundation in the software industry and US GAAP.
This position will play key roles across the order to cash and record to report cycles, including management and GAAP revenue recognition and reporting, royalty tracking, reconciliation and reporting, and sales tax compliance.
The successful candidate must be highly analytical, organized, possess a high aptitude for problem-solving, and have excellent written and oral communication skills. The ability to provide effective review, oversight, and escalation for assigned areas is also key to success.
What You'll Do:
- Hands-on review of contracts to ensure correct setup in NetSuite to facilitate billing, sales tax, royalty calculation and appropriate revenue recognition
- Help drive consistency and accuracy throughout the sales order process by working closely with the accounting and operational teams to scale and improve system processes, controls, and reporting outputs
- Assess contract and product updates and changes relative to the impact on revenue recognition, royalties and sales tax
- Prepare and review monthly account analyses and reconciliations, including validating deferred revenue, accounts receivable, and other contract related financial statement balances and reserves
- Prepare and review royalty calculations and reconciliations to facilitate accurate tracking, financial reporting and payments to channel partners
- Prepare reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, review reports and ensure timely filings, payments and compliance for sales tax and others local and state tax matters
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the accounting department to help maintain an accurate general ledger in compliance with US GAAP requirements
- Complete monthly reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Support the timely and accurate creation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Participate in the annual financial audit, including interaction/correspondence with external auditors and preparation of required schedules and documentation
- Research and document accounting issues and new accounting pronouncements for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Document policies, procedures and controls (and create where needed) and actively drive continuous improvement opportunities in process, policies, and controls, minimizing inefficiencies
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting preferred)
- CPA certification preferred
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel including advanced functions
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with monthly close process
- Experience in the software industry and In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Commitment to continuous process improvement and attention to detail
- Motivated self-starter with ability to take full ownership of assignments and who can effectively work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Experience managing complex and/or judgmental accounting areas
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, and Avalara
