About The Role

In this detail-oriented and analytical role, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for driving the month-end close process, reconciliations, and analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts.

• Gain a deep understanding of the Relay Payments platform in order to monitor and properly account for the movements of customer funds onto and through the Relay balance sheet
• Own the month-end close process by preparing schedules and reviewing reconciliations
• Review customer contracts and fee setup to ensure proper accounting at the transactional level
• Manage key customer billing relationships across all product lines
• Document key financial processes and procedures for a successful audit
• Own the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Own the preparation of audit, review, and other supporting workpapers
• Own the preparation of tax returns and filings
• Own the implementation of accounting policies to ensure financial statements are recorded based on GAAP
• Assist with monthly forecasting and updating the budget on a regular basis
• Work cross-functionality across all teams at Relay to successfully enable and empower our customers from onboarding through transacting
• Maintain appropriate financial oversight through transaction monitoring and compliance
• Coordinate and participate in other projects and perform other duties as needed

About You

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; CPA required 
• 2-4 years of related Big 4 experience
• Current understanding of GAAP including revenue recognition for SaaS based companies
• Familiarity with Quickbooks Online
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and a high level of discretion
• Ability to connect foundational accounting principles and journal entries to customer money movement and revenue recognition
• Self-starter and a strong team player who is flexible with a positive “can do” attitude
• Has the ability to jump in, learn and ask questions, and suggest the best solution to a problem
• Not afraid to research the answer to a question by reading standard operating procedures, narratives, past year’s documentation, and looking through our data reporting tools
• Has an attention to detail and is thorough, accurate, and seeks to understand and solve problems through logical reasoning
• Strong organizational skills in addition to excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to function independently, communicate clearly, multi-task, and realign priorities as needed
• Ability to communicate with other team members in person
• Proficient in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
