Position Summary:

Excel Sports Management is seeking a Senior Accountant with experience in accounting and/or finance to support the finance team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and self-motivated, with a passion for continuous process improvement. This person will be a key member of the operations team, assisting with all financial transactions across the company. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all month-end financial reporting and reconciliations.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, deferrals, and reclassifications.
  • Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Analyze general ledger accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
  • Support variance analysis for key financial statement accounts.
  • Assist with preparing financial reports, supporting schedules, and documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain records across accounting systems, suggest process enhancements, and support system implementations as needed.
  • Proactively send reminders and follow up with internal teams to resolve outstanding items, vendor issues, and contract-related matters.
  • Record and review outgoing payments, verify proper approvals, identify prepaid expenses and assist with other payment processes.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.
  • 4+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on month-end close responsibilities, journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Prior experience in corporate accounting, or a fast-paced finance environment preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles, including revenue recognition and accrual accounting.
  • Ability to manage and execute month-end close tasks independently, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Workday, or similar ERP systems) preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring accuracy and completeness in financial records.
  • Capable of identifying discrepancies, investigating root causes, and proposing solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, and proactive in identifying process improvements.


The pay range for this position is: $85,000 per year - $95,000 per year. This position is also eligible for benefits and discretionary bonus.

Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
