Job Purpose/Overview

Answer why this job is in the organization; Why this job exists (2 or 3 sentences maximum).

Working under minimal supervision, this position maintains and controls the General Ledger accounts and transactions of the organization, applying generally accepted accounting principles that include analytical work and thorough review of financial accounting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries and perform general account analysis and reconciliation
  • Identify and analyze reconciling items between the general ledger and supporting details, and follow through on the clearing of these items.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements
  • Support period-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Responsible for accounting for lessee leases under ASC 842
  • Ability to research technical accounting guidance and ensure appropriate application
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP) and internal controls.
  • Supports other functional areas by providing requested data, answering accounting questions, participating in cross functional teams and provides training as appropriate.
  • Seeks process improvements and problem resolution in all aspects of the job function.
  • Special projects as needed, including ERP implementation/testing
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 4+ years’ related experience in a large corporation or public accounting, or combination
  • In-depth understanding of US GAAP
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred

  • Proficiency in accounting software (Oracle a plus, but not required).
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel (i.e. pivots, VLOOKUP's), Outlook and PowerPoint

The associate is regularly required to apply manual dexterity, including hand/wrist flexibility, for computer keyboarding. The associate frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The associate is frequently required to hear and speak in order to use the telephone, make presentations and communicate with people in an office or virtual environment. The associate is occasionally required to sit and stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

The associate will primarily work in a typical office environment or a remote home office. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The associate will be required to use a computer, spreadsheets, data base management, email, video conferencing and the Internet. The associate is frequently required to use a calculator; fax, copy machine, and phone system. The associate must occasionally use media equipment such as an overhead projector, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams. Environment where pets are present
