Job Summary: This position reports directly to the Manager of Technical Accounting. Key responsibilities of the role include preparing, analyzing, researching and adjusting financial statements as part of the month-end close process for management presentation. Creates relevant workpapers, schedules and reconciliations. Reviews and comprehends financial indicators and results of operations and variances from budget and historical results. Assists with researching technical accounting and financial reporting issues as well as ad hoc financial analysis and projects. Coordinates with local accounting teams regarding financial transactions and resolution of unusual balances or variances. Requires a Bachelors degree in Finance/Accounting. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: - Performs general accounting functions/processes a.Responsible for executing assigned month end close process responsibilities of Wellstar Health Systems financial statements b.Prepares journal entries and maintains document analysis and support c.Assists with the application of GAAP to new transactions, where applicable d.Maintains appropriate procedure documentation and adheres to Wellstar policies and procedures e.Ensure that all month-end close and compliance timelines are met f.Performs balance sheet and income statement analyses and reconciliations g.Identify process improvement initiatives for specific areas of responsibility h.Assists with preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial and compliance reporting i.Supports annual audits j.Coordinates with local accounting and finance teams on financial transactions and resolution of unusual balances or varian - Special projects, as assigned a.Assist with special projects as assigned b.Acquisitions, accounting, and reporting Required Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree Accounting/Finance RequiredMaster's Degree Masters in Accounting/Masters in Business Administration Preferred Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
