SEMCO - Gas Supply Analyst
Position Summary
SEMCO is seeking a Gas Supply Analyst for our Gas Supply team! Reporting to the Manager, Gas Supply, the Gas Supply Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the Gas Supply team. This position involves compiling and submitting routine reports, ensuring accurate documentation, and timely sign-off of pipeline and storage volumetric data for monthly invoice verification. Additionally, the Analyst will contribute to the administration of SEMCO's Gas Customer Choice program and the daily planning of natural gas supply needs for customers.
What You'll Do:

Validate monthly invoice activity for SEMCO’s procurement of gas commodity, transportation, and storage requirements.

Reconcile pipeline reports on a volumetric and cost basis to identify and resolve issues in collaboration with schedulers and gas planners.

Manage projects within time and budget guidelines, including research, preparation of presentation materials, development of recommendations, project implementation, and monitoring.

Create and submit reports to management and other department heads, including storage and throughput.

Administer key Gas Supply programs, such as Gas Customer Choice (GCC), planning for gas deliveries, oversight of tariff compliance, and support for Alternative Gas Suppliers.

Maintain working relationships with vendors, suppliers, and internal business units.

Perform data analysis and supply planning using computer software, models, and databases. Assess the accuracy of generated forecasts.

Stay informed about current trends and developments in the field, including key regulatory filings and natural gas industry developments.

Develop and maintain effective communications with Regulatory, Gas Control, Gas Accounting, and other departments.

Participate in the development and periodic review of process procedures and guidelines for gas supply planning and Gas Customer Choice. Adhere to internal control procedures and financial processes.
What You Bring:

Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, engineering, finance, or a related field is required.

2+ years of related professional experience.

Excellent organizational, analytical, and judgment skills with the ability to accurately and confidently process and maintain data.

Ability to coordinate and complete multiple tasks with changing requirements while meeting commitments.

Ability to focus on the “big picture” while maintaining attention to detail.

Ability to define problems, collect data, and recommend solutions.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to interpret concepts and provisions of gas supply, gas transportation, gas storage contracts, and pipeline tariffs.

Excellent working knowledge of various computer business software applications with the ability to learn new systems or software packages as necessary. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills required, including Excel.
We offer a competitive salary of $65,000 to $75,000 per annum for this position. SEMCO is proud to also provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance from day one, retirement plans, and paid time off.
Working Conditions
SEMCO Energy follows a hybrid work model of 3 days per week in the office, and 2 days per week work-from-home (subject to change). Work is performed in a standard office environment, with exposure to moderate noise levels from high-speed computers, printers, and other peripherals. Duties involve sitting at a desk and operating personal computer equipment for extended periods, occasional bending, stooping, and lifting up to 25 lbs. unassisted. Occasional travel to various worksites may be required, depending on work assignment.
