HUMAN was founded in 2012 in a Brooklyn sci-fi bookstore by Tamer Hassan, Michael Tiffany, Dan Kaminsky, and Ash Kalb. The Research team at HUMAN takes on the immense challenge of identifying and stopping malicious activity across vast streams of traffic. We are now seeking a skilled and driven Senior Security Data Researcher to join our team and play a key role in shaping the intelligence behind our products.

What you'll do:

• Lead research initiatives to design and implement innovative methods for identifying and blocking malicious activity at scale.
• Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, threat intelligence analysts and incident response teams to deliver impactful, data-driven solutions.
• Analyze and process massive datasets using advanced tools and techniques to uncover insights and solve complex problems.
• Act as a key contributor within a global core team of data researchers and security researchers, driving initiatives with a significant impact on the company’s product and customers.
• Mentor and guide team members, sharing knowledge and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Who you are:

• 3+ years and relevant academic experience, OR  5+ years of experience  working with data tools and platforms (e.g., SQL, Pandas, Kibana, Spark) and strong proficiency in handling and analyzing large datasets.
• A clever thinker with a researcher mindset, skilled in applying research methods to uncover patterns and solve problems.
• Proven track record of solving real-world problems through data manipulation, statistical analysis, and critical thinking.
• Understanding of internet protocols, networking, and the mechanics of how the internet operates; familiarity with TLS and HTTP is a strong plus.
• Solid understanding of the cyber threat landscape; application-level attacks and attacker methodologies is a strong plus.
• A proactive learner with a strong drive for continuous development and a passion for making a tangible impact.
• A natural leader with a strong sense of ownership and accountability, always striving for more accuracy, efficiency, and improving things and people around you.
• A collaborative and transparent team player who thrives in a cross-functional environment and enjoys mentoring peers.
• Committed to delivering solutions with a focus on correctness and performance, ensuring reliability at scale.
