Position Overview:

The Secondary Marketing Analyst is responsible for managing the mortgage-backed securities (MBS) pooling pipeline, ensuring trade execution accuracy, and supporting key margin management and performance reporting functions. This position collaborates closely with senior management, traders, and internal stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency and support strategic decision-making.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the pooling process for Fannie Mae (FN) and Freddie Mac (FH), ensuring compliance with agency requirements.

  • Manage MBS pooling pipeline and ensure timely execution within specified delivery timelines.

  • Work closely with the trading desk and operations team to ensure accurate loan allocations to pools.

  • Reconcile and verify trade confirmations, ensuring accuracy in executed trades.

  • Work on margin management reports, tracking performance, gains/losses, and hedging effectiveness.

  • Assist in hedging strategies and pipeline risk management by monitoring market conditions.

  • Develop and maintain ad hoc reports for senior management to provide insights into trading performance, pipeline risk, and market trends.

  • Automate and optimize reporting processes using Excel (advanced functions, macros, VBA preferred), SQL, and BI tools.

  • Ensure data integrity and reconcile discrepancies across various systems and reports.

  • Coordinate with the operations and finance teams to ensure smooth loan delivery and settlement processes.

  • Collaborate with the compliance team to ensure adherence to investor and regulatory guidelines.

  • Identify process improvements and contribute to the efficiency of the capital markets’ function.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, related field, or equivalent combination of education, experience and skills.

  • 3+ years of experience in mortgage banking, capital markets, secondary marketing, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of MBS pooling, trade settlements, hedging strategies, and mortgage pipeline risk management.

  • Experience with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines and loan sales processes.

  • Excellent attention to detail and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.

  • Skilled at analyzing large data sets and problem-solving.

  • Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, macros, and VBA preferred).

  • Knowledge of SQL, Tableau, or other data visualization tools, preferred.
