What is the position? As a Scrum Master within the VA HELM (Veterans Affairs Healthcare Environment and Logistics Management) program, you will play a vital role in supporting and leading Agile practices to ensure successful delivery of high-quality software solutions. The VA HELM program aims to modernize, sustain, monitor, and decommission products to create a modern and interoperable supply chain for the Veterans Affairs department. You will work closely with multiple Agile teams, product owners, and stakeholders to facilitate effective collaboration and ensure adherence to Agile principles and practices.
What will I get to do?

Lead and facilitate Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Ensure that all team members actively participate and that the ceremonies are effective in driving progress and continuous improvement.

Coach and mentor Agile teams, Scrum Masters, and product owners on Agile values, principles, and practices. Help teams in adopting and scaling Agile methodologies, with a focus on SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) 6.0. Provide guidance and support to resolve any conflicts or impediments that may hinder team productivity.

Foster a collaborative and self-organizing team environment, where individuals are empowered to take ownership and responsibility for their work. Promote effective communication and collaboration between teams, stakeholders, and leadership.

Establish and track Agile metrics to measure team performance, predictability, and continuous improvement. Prepare and present regular progress reports and metrics to the program leadership, highlighting areas of improvement and potential risks.

Drive the adoption of Agile best practices and continuous improvement across the program. Identify and implement process improvements, tools, and techniques to enhance team efficiency and delivery quality.
What qualifications do I need?
-
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline). A Master's degree is a plus.

Active certification as a SAFe Scrum Master (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster® or Professional Scrum Master®).

Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach in software development projects, preferably in a large-scale, enterprise-level environment.

Experience with SAFe implementation and working in SAFe Agile Release Trains (ARTs).

Demonstrated experience in leading Agile trainings and workshops for teams and stakeholders.

Strong understanding of Agile principles and practices, and ability to adapt them to specific organizational needs and challenges.

Note: Additional certifications, such as SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage.
What additional characteristics will help me thrive?

In-depth knowledge and experience in Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum, and SAFe 6.0. Certification in SAFe 6.0 is mandatory.

Strong leadership and facilitation skills to guide Agile teams through complex software development projects.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, including team members, product owners, and senior leadership.

Proven experience in leading Agile trainings and workshops to educate and empower team members on Agile values, principles, and practices.

Solid understanding of software development life cycles, with the ability to adapt Agile methodologies to fit the organization's context.

Ability to manage and resolve conflicts, and to provide timely feedback and guidance to individuals and teams for continuous improvement.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and address impediments, risks, and issues within Agile teams.

Familiarity with tools and software commonly used in Agile environments, such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar tools.

Compensation
$91,242.70 - $150,555.93
The pay range for this job is determined by various factors, including but not necessarily limited to location, responsibilities of the job, and alignment with market data. When determining a salary for this role, the following factors may be taken into consideration - contract-specific affordability, education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience. The estimate displayed represents the salary range for this position and is just one component of Cognosante’s total compensation package for employees.
