The Lead Scrum Master’s role is to help RSM mature its agile practices to improve delivery to our firm’s end-users. The Lead Scrum Master role is responsible for working with cross functional teams to increase Agile acumen, develop and enhance intellectual property, and streamline and implement processes and best practices to ensure successful adoption of Agile principles, techniques and mindset to achieve the greatest business value.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading through influence and acting as an agent of change with a set of teams or a program to evolve their ways of working.

  • Working with technology, business, product and operations partners to understand current state, challenges and coaching, training and mentoring them through the transition.

  • Establishing coaching and transformation backlog and sharing progress with key stakeholders

  • Collaborate with Scrum Master and teams to establish team coaching plans.

  • Monitor improvement in maturity, quality, predictability and delivery as adoption of agile practices increases to ensure coaching meets the required outcomes.

  • Facilitation of leadership retrospectives, continuous improvement workshops and other forums focused on removing team and program impediments to agility.

  • Contributing to communities of practices and enhancing agile acumen across a wide set of roles.

  • Launch and stabilize teams using scrum metrics and accountability frameworks. Partner with Scrum Masters to evaluate team metrics and make recommendations to teams and management for improvements.

  • Be servant leader for scrum teams that are just starting their agile journey, assess, meet the team where they are and setup plans to move the team forward.

  • Support enterprise agile adoption and maturity across the enterprise by observing, evaluating, and implementing changes to solve organizational and cultural impediments to improve the agile transformation of a program or project.

  • Collaborate with leadership to re-enforce and teach agile best practice.

  • Champions continuous improvement activities to reduce waste and increase efficiency.

  • Supports the personal development of scrum masters, helping them gain a continuous learning attitude.

  • Embrace the concept of continuous learning in your own journey and instill the same in the team(s) you coach.

  • Create training strategy for continuous agile education and transformation

  • Facilitate and delivery training strategy across the agile teams and leadership

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

  • One or more agile certifications preferred (e.g. CSM, CSPO, CSP, PSM, PSPO, SAFe).

Technical/Soft skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Knowledgeable about Agile principles and application.

  • Capable of bridging the waterfall and agile frameworks as the transition to agile matures in the organization.

  • Strong coaching and facilitation skills; adept at problem solving with team to analyze issues and opportunities to improve in working model and align on path forward for action.

  • Energetic and skilled at engaging with different team members with different personalities.Ability to learn quickly and teach others by showing what worked

Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of iterative or agile-like development experience.

  • Demonstrated training and change management experience.

  • Experience interacting with senior level management.

  • Demonstrated experience with meeting facilitation and negotiation.

  • Demonstrated experience teaching technical teams agile framework concepts

  • Demonstrated experience delivering technical solutions using various agile frameworks

  • Understanding of SAFe principles for scaling teams (preferred)

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate with a diverse population.

  • Demonstrated ability to support, affect, and implement change.
