The Scientist I position at Cepheid is a full-time, onsite role focused on bench-level work in real-time PCR and RT-PCR assay and product development. The role involves planning and executing laboratory research within an FDA-QSR and ISO9001 compliant environment, contributing to the development of innovative diagnostic solutions that improve patient outcomes. This position is part of the Biochip R&D Unit located in Sunnyvale, CA, and offers opportunities for career growth and development in a collaborative setting.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Plan and execute laboratory research related to PCR and RT-PCR assay development.
-
Plan and execute laboratory research related to nucleic acid extraction from clinical samples, NGS Library prep and NGS sequencing.

Demonstrate technical proficiency and scientific creativity in laboratory experiments.,

Implement verification and validation of SOPs and write technical reports.

Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain organized work areas.
The essential requirements of the job include:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Molecular biology, Microbiology, Chemistry or related field with related work experience
-
Scientific laboratory bench work experience, including pipetting and following written protocols.
-
Knowledge in PCR, qPCR, RT-qPCR and next generation sequencing techniques.
-
Ability to work safely and maintain compliance in the laboratory environment.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with statistical analysis tools such as Minitab or JMP
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
-
Experience handling microbiological and clinical specimens in a BSL-2 environment.
-
Experience in Next generation sequencing library prep and sequencing.
-
Experience in Python scripting or any other coding languages.

The salary range for this role is $71,000 to $96,000 USD annually. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
