The Scientist I is primarily a bench level job focusing on real time PCR and RT-PCR assay and product development in an FDA-QSR and ISO9001 compliant organization. The candidate will plan and execute laboratory research, demonstrate appropriate technical proficiency, scientific creativity and collaboration with cross-functional departments.

This position is part of the Biochip R&D team and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA, Onsite. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Focus on innovation, translational research, and early development of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) assays.
• Gain skills and ability to independently conduct lab work.

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Knowledge of nucleic acid purification and PCR.
• Support teams in the research and development of novel assays. Knowledge of PCR, qPCR, RT-qPCR, enzymes, and sample types (e.g., blood, plasma, FFPE, and urine), experimental design and laboratory practices.
• Knowledge in handling clinical samples and ability to work in a BSL-2 environment. Knowledge of biological and chemical safety.
• Bachelor’s degree in field with related work experience

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Knowledge of principles of quality control and quality assurance.
• Proficiency with statistical analysis tools such as Minitab or JMP.
• Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills

The salary range for this role is $68,000 to $93,000 USD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
