Discover Impactful Work:
As the Protein Modification Scientist, I will be an integral member of the 1st Shift team, responsible for the production of dye-labeled antibodies, proteins, and/or protein blends.
You will perform hands-on manufacturing tasks and work according to production schedules. You must possess good mathematical skills and provide accurate data documentation. You must be well-organized and able to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. In a timely and efficient manner, this person will work both independently to produce a quality product and as part of a team.
A Day in the Life:
- Basic protein/antibody purification, antibody bioconjugation, and/or creation of protein blends.
- Perform accurate and aseptic lab techniques, good documentation practices, and good manufacturing practices.
- Use of general lab equipment (centrifuges, spectrophotometers, pipettes, etc.).
- Perform chromatography-based purifications using FPLCs (i.e., AKTAs).
- Initiate Problem Reports for planned and unplanned deviations and failures.
- Accurately document and complete all manufacturing batch records independently.
- Follow verbal and written instructions and maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Follow all departmental SOPs, guidelines, and procedures.
- Suggest ideas for continuous improvement.
Keys to Success:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a chemistry or biological science preferred and 0+ years of experience in the application of cellular biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, general biology, or microbiology laboratory techniques in a manufacturing environment or R&D laboratory (equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered).
- Knowledge and experience with size exclusion chromatography and FPLCs, as well as an understanding of GLP and GMP processes and documentation, are preferred.

- Excellent communication (written and oral) skills, and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Highly motivated and dedicated individual who is well organized, able to collaborate, and has the ability to multitask.

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $25.60–$38.40.
