Job Purpose:
Our Sales Leader, Business Development will lead a team of Account Executives responsible for targeting, acquiring and closing medium to high value revenue opportunities at targeted accounts that align with the Veritiv Strategy for the assigned vertical - Cold Chain Packaging. This position is responsible for initiating, coordinating and directing sales efforts, marketing programs, Strategic/Key business opportunities that support the Sales organization’s growth strategy.
Job Responsibilities:
● Lead a team of regional Hunters targeting Strategic/Key Accounts.
● Manage the implementation of marketing programs which will contribute to achieving Strategic/Key sales and profit objectives.
● Collaborate with Regional Sales Leaders and Field sales teams to identify and persue targets of the assigned vertical strategy.
● Develop and implement the appropriate vertical selling strategies, and program guidelines for selling targets within assigned vertical.
● Accountable for delivering new account sales, GP and market share growth objectives for assigned vertical.
● In collaboration with procurement and sourcing organizations, ensure effective targeting of new customers utilizing procurement strategy and preferred segment suppliers.
● Apply quantitative analysis, business judgment and leadership to drive strategic sales objectives.
● Responsible for the ongoing assessment of sales team performance to ensure the Veritiv selling model and tools are being leveraged to increase account share and market penetration, and to ensure sales resources are aligned with the right targets and market growth opportunities within assigned vertical.
● Responsible for the ongoing development of sales talent, and for appropriately allocating talent to specific targets to drive Veritiv growth.
● Serve as a conduit of tools and resources supported by the Solutions Center to maximize market growth potential for assigned vertical.
● Lead Strategic/Key Account efforts to hire, coach, develop and retain segment sales talent to establish bench strength and ensure the continuous growth and development of the sales team.
● Coordinate and lead team sales meetings on a regular basis to disseminate pertinent market and product information, implement sales training programs, capture sales team feedback and share other company or business-related information.
● Maintain an awareness of marketplace opportunities and threats to the success of Veritiv.
● Position will require approximately 60% travel to customers, suppliers and locations within assigned Territories.
Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:
● College degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
● Minimum 5+ years successful sales experience required.
● Successful sales team or division management experience required, experience with large, National/Corporate or decentralized distribution sales organizations preferred.
● Cold Chain Packaging experience
● Proficient PC skills required.
● Demonstrated strong leadership and management skills required.
● $160-200k base + bonus
Work Experience:
● 5-10 years of related experience of successful supervisory/management experience required to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent.● 5-10 years of related job experience.● Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.● Ability to work quickly and efficiently.● Basic experience of simple office/operational systems.● Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.● Experienced in providing leadership to others regarding work related systems, processes, and challenges.● Experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives.● Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.● Strong customer service skills (friendly, courteous and helpful).● Strong planning and organization skills are required.
Education:
● Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Physical Requirements:
● A significant portion of the job responsibilities will require computer work that involves the continuous use of the fingers, hands, wrists, and sitting for long periods of time.
● The position also requires frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.
● The position requires work in an office as well as travel to customers, suppliers, group meetings, etc.
