Summary:
Flowserve is looking for a hands-on, experienced Sales Engineer to sell pumps, mechanical seals, and services to existing and new customers in the oil & gas, chemical, general industries in the Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and some additional locations.
Flowserve’s reputation as a global leader for design, quality, and service will support the Sales Engineer to demonstrate a value proposition and establish long-term business relationships.
The Sales Engineer will create a lasting competitive advantage for Flowserve by understanding our products and their applications in our customers’ operations. The Sales Engineer will be forward-thinking by identifying opportunities, developing marketing plans, and achieving increased sales over time.
Responsibilities:

Maintain regular, planned communication with key customers in the territory.

Conduct direct, in-person sales calls.

Respond promptly and thoroughly to customer inquiries.

Achieve sales objectives, including bookings and growth targets.

Expand Flowserve’s wallet share within key growth markets, select customers, and underrepresented product lines.

Develop and implement marketing plans aligned with regional sales objectives to support organizational goals.

Prepare quarterly updates on progress toward yearly objectives.

Stay informed about customers’ targeted and forecasted projects.

Build win-win relationships by understanding the needs of both customers and Flowserve to support negotiations.

Provide industry intelligence, financial insights, technical expertise, and deep product knowledge.

Proactively engage with customers to resolve technical challenges.

Work closely with EPC and HQ customers, regional end-user sales engineers, sales managers, distribution sales teams, commercial operations, product management, supply chain, engineering, and operations.

Participate in project calls with OEs, EPCs, EU, and HQ accounts to influence Flowserve preference on specifications.

Inform customers about product quality, features, and the Life Cycle Advantage program using company marketing materials.

Train customers on product features and usage.

Leverage knowledge of competitors’ strengths and weaknesses to highlight the value of Flowserve’s products and services.

Maintain organized records and prepare reports on customer contacts, quotes, status, actuals, and expenses.

Promote a Customer-First attitude, collaborating with internal teams to meet customer needs, resolve issues, and honor Life Cycle Advantage agreements.

Convey enthusiasm for Flowserve’s products and inspire confidence in the company’s vision and strategic direction.
Requirements:

5 + years of industrial sales experience with a track record of self-initiated, sustained sales success.

Knowledge of the design and operational requirements of rotating pumps, mechanical seals, and related equipment.

Skilled at product demonstrations, presentations, and business writing.

Trained in sales techniques, negotiations, and business finance.

Proficient in using technology to manage daily activities, with strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel for complex spreadsheets, Word, and presentation software.

Demonstrated financial acumen to discuss business decisions, especially return on investment, in support of solution selling.

Able to lead root cause failure analysis and communicate results.

Experienced in leading meetings, including setting agendas, preparing materials, facilitating discussions, and assigning follow-up activities.

Proven ability to multitask with flexibility and follow-through to meet urgent deadlines with little or no supervision.

Capable of physical activity, including walking large customer sites, lifting at least 50 lbs, and ascending/descending ladders and staircases in multi-story facilities.

Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
Preferred Experience/Skills:

Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred.

Sales experience with rotating equipment such as pumps and mechanical seals.
