JOB DESCRIPTION
UL Solutions is seeking a passionate and strategic leader to lead the sales function of Engineered Materials. Reporting directly to the Engineered Materials Vice President, General Manager, this person will be accountable for core business growth (Wire and Cable, Materials, and Plastics) and accelerating revenue growth driven by three mega-trends: 1. Energy transition, 2. Electrification of vehicles, 3. Sustainability and circularity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Sales Leadership

  • Develop and implement a sales strategy that drives growth across Engineered Material's multiple business lines.
  • Identify and capitalize on growth opportunities within Engineered Materials scope of product and service offerings.
  • Elevate sales skills and capabilities to cement UL Solution's leadership position and industry differentiation.
  • Continuously focus on increasing market share and net promoter score across the service portfolio.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Foster deep collaboration across Engineered Materials Leadership, Product Management, Principal Engineering, and Operations.
  • Drive a holistic approach to identify growth opportunities and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with Sales leaders across UL Solutions Segments to develop unified impactful go-to-market strategies.


Performance and Cultural Impact

  • Champion an engaged high performance, inclusive sales culture characterized by excellence, innovation and continuous learning. ,Develop comprehensive talent strategy ensuring the sales organization attracts, develops, and retains top-tier sales professionals.
  • Maintain a continuous overview of market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging customer needs


Strategic Sales Enablement

  • Develop and refine a robust sales management playbook that provides clear guidance, best practices, and strategic frameworks.
  • Leverage and enhance existing sales performance tracking and coaching mechanisms
  • Ensure that the sales team is equipped with the right tools, training and resources to exceed performance expectations.


QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate should possess the following attributes:

  • Strategic Vision and Intellectual Curiosity - Demonstrates exceptional strategic acumen by proactively identifying and framing market fast-moving opportunities through insightful questioning and deep market intelligence
  • Results Driven - Holds a proven track record of driving revenue growth and market penetration across complex, multi-vertical markets including automotive, utilities, and advanced materials. The leader must be skilled in aligning cross-functional stakeholders to develop and execute aggressive sales strategies that expand market share and exceed revenue targets.
  • Customer Focus - Possesses an extensive professional network in the engineered material space and has exceptional ability to conduct high-level discovery conversations with C-Suite decision-makers.
  • Operational Excellence and Investment Discipline - Masters the art of managing complex sales ecosystems, balancing strategic investment decisions with rigorous performance management. Creates transparent, data-driven sales processes that keep leadership, teams, and customers strategically aligned and operationally informed.
  • University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor's degree) in related discipline; MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred.
  • 10 years or more of related discipline experience or demonstrated competency including 5 years or more of relevant management/leadership experience or demonstrated competency.
  • In-depth knowledge of Testing, Inspection, Certification market and industries within Engineered Materials.
  • Cross-functional expertise to architect and drive an integrated go-to-market plan.
  • Experience with complex customer interactions, products, and services.
  • Track record of building strong people/teams.
  • Global experience (culture, market, business practices, etc.).
  • Experience leading significant organizational changes.
  • Ability to work in a matrixed organization.
  • Innovative and strategic thinker.
  • Approachable and engaging; able to build a culture of trust, inspiration, drive, and growth.
  • Skilled at identifying both disruptive and sustaining innovations.
