Square is seeking a dynamic and passionate Sales Development Manager to lead and develop a high-performing team of Business Development Representatives (BDRs) and Sales Development Representatives (SDRs) based in Japan. In this critical leadership role, you will be responsible for managing inbound and outbound sales activities, driving pipeline performance, and ensuring that your team delivers high-quality opportunities for Account Executives. You will be a key player in scaling Square's sales organization, fostering talent development, and contributing to significant revenue growth and customer base expansion. The role will report directly to the Director of Business Development (AU) and work closely with cross-functional teams across multiple geographies.
You Will:

  • Hire, train, coach, and develop a team of BDRs and SDRs, ensuring they meet performance expectations and exceed their quotas.
  • Provide continuous support through weekly 1:1s, call coaching, shadow sessions, pipeline reviews, and motivating your team to improve productivity and opportunity quality.
  • Develop a high-performance culture focused on results, motivation, and achieving goals.
  • Focus on the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new reps to ensure they are set up for success.
  • Lead your team to qualify inbound leads and generate outbound pipeline opportunities, aligning with the broader sales strategy.
  • Work with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Enablement, Operations, and Account Executives to align strategies and improve lead conversion.
  • Analyze and report on team performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvements to meet or exceed monthly/quarterly goals.
  • Become an integral part of Square's Sales Leadership team and drive your team's career development, helping them transition into future Account Executives or other leadership roles within Square.


You Have:

  • 2+ years of experience in a sales leadership role, managing SDRs/BDRs, or 5+ years of experience in sales development with a proven track record of overachieving quota targets.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills, with a passion for developing future sales leaders.
  • Solid experience with sales tools and CRMs, particularly Salesforce.com, to track performance and drive team effectiveness.
  • Proven success in building and managing high-performing sales teams with an emphasis on lead generation, qualification, and pipeline management.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with various departments and deliver feedback effectively.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, able to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
  • A passion for SaaS and Square's product ecosystem, with a desire to grow within the company.
