How You Will Contribute
As a Sales Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in helping AT&T Business Services (ABS) capture the high-capacity wavelength market driven by AI demand. You will invigorate AT&T’s metro & long-distance wavelength sales by working with ABS product & sales teams, as well as cross-functionally with Ciena PLM, R&D, Strategy, Marketing, Commercial Management, and Services.
This is a business development role to help AT&T secure new beach heads. The ability to articulate and intercept market trends, as well as a keen understanding of the current market dynamics in the wavelength & fiber business segment is expected.
The Must Haves:
We are seeking an individual who can:
- Create and deliver precedent-setting solutions that measurably improve stakeholder (AT&T and Ciena) value
- Collaborate with and/or direct others across the account and across Ciena to meet business objectives consistent with the Account’s strategic plans
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of AT&T’s wavelength business, industry dynamics, and competitive landscape
- Stay ahead of market trends, providing strategic insights that align with our long-term business objectives
- Forge and nurture relationships with key AT&T leaders to become a credible, expert advisor
- Develop and execute innovative sales strategies to drive business growth in Ciena’s high-growth segments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including PLM, R&D, Strategy, Marketing, Commercial Management, and Service to achieve comprehensive business goals
- A Bachelor's degree or higher
- Minimum of 5 years in networking sales, engineering, strategic account management, business development, or marketing
- In-depth knowledge of the telecommunications industry, both supply & demand side (i.e., commercial models including waves, dark fiber, hybrid, spectrum leases, MOFN / PDN), as well as Ciena’s wavelength solutions
- Demonstrated ability to compete creatively and effectively in high-growth product segments
- Excellent communicator and presenter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- A growth-oriented mindset, complemented by resilience, transparency, and a collaborative spirit
- Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time to meet business needs
Pay Range:
The annual total target compensation pay range for this position is $224,800 - $371,300 USD. This includes both base and incentive compensation.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
