As a Sales, Retention and Service channel, subject matter/industry expert, independently develops value-added, material and valid insights and tools to grow customer base, revenue and cash flow, enhance operational efficiency and customer experience. Measures and assesses the effectiveness of sales, retention and service investments and processes using data analysis, mathematical/statistical modeling, and optimization techniques. Assesses Sales, Retention and Service performance to recommend opportunities and influence business change and strive for operationalization.
Demonstrates creativity, foresight, and judgment in anticipating and solving complex analytical problems in order to meet the business objectives and requirements. Makes decisions and recommendations based on expertise on analytical methods and approaches. Develops and maintains relationships with other analytical thought leaders within Cox as well as the business and academic community.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversees Data Science's analyses efforts on major Sales, Retention and Sales Transactional projects, providing forward-looking and potentially transformative guidance to business leaders and decision makers.
- Discovers or invents new business Sales and Service transactional opportunities through the original application of new optimization, simulation, forecasting, machine learning, artificial intelligence and statistical methods.
- Leads in the creation, design, development and execution of advanced prescriptive and predictive algorithms in mathematical optimization, simulation and artificial intelligence applications.
- Applies professional judgment, creativity, and knowledge of client priorities to anticipate needs and recommend solutions.
- Researches and applies emerging technologies and practices to enhance Data Science's development and application company wide.
- Drives cross-functional efforts to improve efficiency and address emerging business challenges.
- Monitors industry and the competition to understand Data Science advances, changes and state-of-the-art approaches.
- Takes transactional data and other sets of data to identify opportunities to positively impact the Cox Mobile and Broadband business.
- Works with the frontline Sales, Retention and Care teams to understand customer pain points and develops ideas for how Marketing can resolve them.
- Leads the development of effective Sales, Retention and Service presentations that clearly communicate the problem to be solved and the recommendation for how to address it.
- Provides transactional deep dives of how key products and offers are performing by rep and provides recommendations on how to improve the performance.
- Partners and builds relationships with internal stakeholders and clients. Identifies and builds new avenues of opportunity for leveraging existing and new and innovative analytical solutions in areas of importance to the business. Leads the identification and scoping of transactional analytical projects that align with priority business opportunities, challenges, and needs. Aligns projects to business and departmental goals. Demonstrates understanding of key client needs and the ability to gain acceptance. Understands business and technology constraints.
- Identifies and translates analytical results into meaningful and insightful/actionable recommendations to influence business change. Leads the development of effective presentations and documents that clearly communicate results that align with business issues and challenges. Communicates complex information in a simple, clear, and concise way. Understands cross functional implementation issues and challenges.
- Drives project milestones to completion. Builds partnerships, defines accountability, and leads the activities which operationalize key findings. Helps develop/architect tools, tests, and dashboards to enable implementation and automation of complex models, analyses, and subsequent insights. Supports testing, training, and development of new business practices.
- Supports training of statistical and other quantitative techniques, towards the end goal of delivering business impact.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 10 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 8 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 5 years' experience in a related field; or 22 years' experience in a related field
- Requires strong knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and others (e.g., Java, Scala).
- Excellent leadership skills to work with teams throughout organization
- Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, especially for managing large datasets and deploying models.
- Data Visualization: Expertise in data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, or Seaborn for communicating insights effectively.

Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $159,400.00 - $265,600.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
