Job Summary
Responsible for monitoring the safety compliance of Travero business operations consistent with the company's goals. Supports the Travero management team in planning, directing, and implementing all activities in a safe and environmentally conscious manner, and focuses on continuously improving competitive position and profitability. Knowledgeable in all aspects of transportation operations and business to support safety compliance and training business needs.


What you will do
  • Implements applicable rules set by various regulatory bodies (i.e. OSHA, State Regulatory Commissions, etc.). Works with applicable codes and standards associated with assigned processes.
  • Administers railroad, barge, and transloading safety programs (i.e., Respiratory Protection, Confined Space Entry, Hearing Conservation) in compliance with all OSHA and Federal Railroad Association (FRA) Regulations.
  • Administers all 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and pertinent FRA Regulations (i.e. locomotive engineer certification and training requirements, alcohol and drug testing requirements, etc.).
  • Monitors operational performance and implements changes as needed for compliance with safety regulatory requirements, industry guidelines and company policies.
  • Stays current on emerging regulations, interprets regulations and prepares plans for compliance.
  • Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety. This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behaviors. Assists in accident investigations to help identify opportunities for additional or specialized education.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree Emphasis in safety, industrial hygiene, physical or natural sciences, or related area Preferred
  • Certification Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Utility Safety Administrator (CUSA), and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation Preferred


Required Experience

  • 5 years of experience with safety regulatory compliance.


Preferred Experience

  • Experience in safety, industrial hygiene, emergency management, safety management, or compliance planning.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with government agencies, railroad groups, and other industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify process improvement need from data, perform root cause analyses and implement process improvement changes.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).
  • Demonstrated financial skills such as budgeting and basic accounting.
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment.

    This position has an annualized market-based salary range:

    $80,000-$106,000

    This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
