Job Summary:
The Safety Specialist is responsible for sustaining effective communication with the field regarding all work-related incidents and maintaining accurate safety reports as outlined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations and guidelines.
Responsibilities:

Interviews sales center personnel regarding work-related incidents and records in a timely manner. Tracks the incident through completion.

Manages 24/7 Safety Emergency Hotline.

Provides training to field personnel on proper incident management per company protocol and other training areas, as needed.

Researches and analyzes data to provide trend reports and tactics to minimize risk and liability.

Completes annual OSHA reporting (i.e. 300 log, 300A log, and 301).

Creates a periodic Safety Seconds emails for targeted training in reference to current trends.

Performs and coordinates site safety audits for compliance with company policies and government/jurisdictions regulations.

Manages incident reporting database.

Assists in department responsibilities.

Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
-
Experience in a safety-related function preferred.

Experience with OSHA, EPA, DOT, IFC, NFPA and Life Safety Codes as they apply to warehouse and distribution settings.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Possess strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Office software, especially MS Excel.

Effective communication skills both verbal and written.

Ability to travel 15-20%.
