Role and Responsibilities:

Monitor and provide feedback for safety policies and procedures: Assists with creating and updating comprehensive safety policies and procedures, ensuring they align with relevant regulations and industry best practices.

Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments: Regularly inspect the workplace, equipment, and machinery to identify potential hazards. Perform thorough risk assessments to evaluate the level of risk associated with different work activities.

Assist with safety training programs: Assists with the development of safety training sessions for employees at all levels while ensuring trainers are competent and able to deliver the training to employees, covering various safety topics and best practices. Collaborate with different departments to design and implement safety training programs, ensuring all employees are well informed about safety protocols and practices.

Investigate incidents and accidents: Lead detailed investigations of workplace incidents, accidents, or injuries to determine root causes and prevent future occurrences. Prepare comprehensive incident reports, analyzing root causes and proposing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences, and ensuring that corrective action items are closed out by operations.

Implement safety measures and controls: Recommend and implement safety equipment, technologies, and controls to minimize risks and enhance workplace safety.

Monitor safety performance and metrics: Track and analyze safety data, including injury rates, injury reports, and compliance levels to analyze trends, and to provide regular reports to management to identify areas for improvement.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations: Stay up-to-date with local, state, and federal safety regulations and ensure the organization's practices and policies adhere to these standards.

Collaborate with cross-functional team: Work closely with different departments to integrate safety considerations into various processes and projects. Provide safety support and guidance as needed. Participate in safety committees and meetings to provide expert input and guidance on safety matters.

Emergency response planning: Review emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and crisis management protocols, and determine areas of focus needed, and communicate these to the SHE management team.

Conduct safety audits and inspections: Periodically conduct safety audits and inspections of equipment, machinery, and facilities to assess, identify, and resolve potential safety issues; or to assess the effectiveness of safety programs and to identify potential areas for improvement.

Promote a safety-conscious culture: Encourage employees to actively participate in safety initiatives and foster a culture that prioritizes safety as a shared responsibility.

Stay informed on industry developments: Continuously update knowledge on safety advancements, emerging technologies, and industry trends to enhance safety practices within the organization.

Develop and maintain safety documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation to ensure compliance and facilitate proper record-keeping.

Collaborate on incident response and crisis management: Work with relevant teams to coordinate and execute emergency response plans in the event of accidents, incidents, or crisis.

Skill and Qualifications:

  • Proven work experience as a Safety Engineer or in a similar safety related role, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency in conducting safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Familiarity with safety equipment and technologies used to enhance workplace safety.
  • Proficient in using safety-related software and tools.
  • Experience in designing and delivering training programs for employees at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess risks and propose effective solutions.
  • Interpret safety data and metrics to identify trends and areas for rimprovement.
