The Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing workplace safety programs to ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA and other relevant safety regulations. This role is critical in maintaining a safe work environment by conducting inspections, training employees, and identifying potential hazards in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Your daily work may include, but is not limited to:

Compliance & Safety Programs

Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA, federal, state, and local safety regulations.

Develop and implement workplace safety policies and procedures.

Maintain and update the facility’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).

Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.

Training & Employee Engagement

Develop and lead safety training programs, including new hire orientation, hazard communication, PPE use, emergency response, and equipment safety.

Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks to reinforce best practices.

Promote a culture of safety by engaging employees and management in proactive safety initiatives.

Incident Investigation & Reporting

Investigate workplace accidents, near-misses, and injuries to determine root causes.

Prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions.

Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and logs in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Hazard Identification & Risk Management

Identify potential workplace hazards and implement corrective measures.

Recommend and oversee the implementation of ergonomic and safety improvements.

Ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE and safety equipment.

Emergency Preparedness

Develop and update emergency response plans and procedures.

Coordinate fire drills, evacuation plans, and first-aid training.

Serve as the point of contact for safety-related emergencies.

Professional qualifications
-
Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.

Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Certification required.

First Aid/CPR certification preferred.

Strong understanding of Cal/OSHA regulations, hazard communication (HazCom), and industrial safety best practices.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.

Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

Compensation
The pay range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000 annually. Please note that the pay range provided is a good-faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as physical work location within the state.
