Job Responsibilities:
Position Overview
This is a research intern position within the Advanced Robotics team in the Corporate Engineering and R&D department. The Advanced Robotics team is focused on developing novel technologies that give robots human-like capabilities in perception and dexterity. The candidate will design, develop and evaluate Task and Motion Planning algorithms for Articulated Manipulator Robots. The candidate will get a chance to work under the guidance of a Robotics Software Technical Specialist. Magna's Student Program provides students the opportunity to gain practical work experience in their area of study related to the automotive industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform testing and benchmarking of different robots' ros2 capabilities.
• Integrate different robots with software packages to a practical application.
• Development of the test plan and functional testing of the software package.
• Development of features to improve the functionality of the software package.
• Present technical results and reports.

Qualifications:

• Experience with industrial robot manipulators (preferably Kuka, ABB, Motoman, Fanuc).
• Experience with collaborative robots
• Experience in software programming (C++, Python)
• Experience with perception and motion planning
• Good understanding of Robotics fundamentals
• Curious, Team Player and ability to thrive in collaborative, small team environment

Education / Experience
Student in a UG or MS program focused on RoboticsPhysical Demands / Work Environment:

• Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office (Holly, MI) environment, able to conduct a normal amount of work at a computer.
