The Project Management Office (PMO) provides resources, support, knowledge and coaching to the customer and product project management team to ensure a better performance along the project lifecycle. At this moment the PMO department making steps forward to increase the maturity. So the PMO department will beating the rhythm on the project milestones and will serve Thales Naval by providing the expertise, know-how, services and continuously striving to increase the data quality to ensure a better performance along project lifecycle in one predictable way with clear awareness and reliable insight on cost, time and quality. About your future job
The role of Risk and Opportunity Manager is highly dynamic. In this position you are allocated to our largest and most complex projects to provide practical support and guidance in a risk manager role. As Risk and Opportunity Manager you will be pivotal in managing and mitigating risks throughout the project lifecycle. You will lead the end-to-end risk analysis, ensuring that both technical and financial risks are identified, prioritized, and mitigated effectively. Your expertise will help cultivate a culture of safety and environmental responsibility, with a focus on maintaining clear communication and proactive risk management with all stakeholders.
The main tasks and responsibilities are:
- Leading risk identification workshops with stakeholders to assess risks, their implications, likelihood, and ownership across various project stages
- Perform Risk Manager role in our largest and most complex projects/programs:
- Conducting both qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, focusing on impact and probability to prioritize critical risks.
- Maintaining a comprehensive risk register, ensuring compliance with legislative and organizational requirements.
- Supporting risk owners in selecting, implementing, and validating mitigation measures.
- Tracking and following up on risk mitigation actions and ensuring continuous progress.
- Work with the project manager and project controller in order to monitor, review and challenge the project contingencies (risk budget)
- Managing risks associated with suppliers, vendors, and supply chain disruptions.
- Facilitating the documentation and sharing of lessons learned to refine future risk management strategies.
- Next to supporting specific projects, you work on the improvement of our risk and opportunity management practices to improve the quality of decisions taken. For example, via the implementation of quantitative analysis methods for schedule risks and the design and implementation of portfolio level reporting on risks and opportunities. Your participation in global key user groups enables the continuous improvement of the added value of these tools.
Why you'd be a good match
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree (in a technical domain is a plus) with 2+ years of experience in risk coordination, ideally within the manufacturing or Naval industry
- You are able to get up to speed very quickly with(in) the Thales organization, our solutions and our customers. You are curious, see opportunities and deal well with complexity. You have knowledge of industrial engineering principles (V-Model) and techniques in manufacturing
- You work comfortably in a multidisciplinary, international and cross-cultural team and easily collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and projects; You are a real team player and can easily liaise with various people; you are cooperative, yet decisive when it comes to your areas of expertise
- Familiarity with risk identification and severity assessment in line with ISO 31000 standards
- Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
