In the Retail Operations (RO) Risk Advisory team, you provide trusted advice to strengthen RO’s risk and compliance capabilities, and optimise the risk and control environment. You proactively identify risks through partnering with business, risk and compliance experts and deliver services including issue and incident management, control advice, change risk assessment, risk reviews and governance.

The Chief Operations Office (COO) is the engine room of the CBA Group dedicated to operating and enhancing the processes that deliver products and services to our customers. Within COO, RO provides efficient and high-quality services to our customers through executing Retail Banking Services (RBS) operational processes and leading the Group’s escalated complaints resolution function.

The RO Risk Advisory team supports RO in delivering excellent customer and business outcomes through practical risk advice and effective risk management solutions.

Day to day responsibilities

With a focus on RO’s complaints resolution function, you will be responsible for:

  • Implementing and ensuring adherence to the Operational and Compliance Risk Management Frameworks
  • Advising on the management of incidents and issues, including root cause analysis, identifying and implementing control improvements and compliance arrangements, and managing compliance impacts
  • Partnering with stakeholders across the business and Risk Management to improve effectiveness of risk management activities
  • Supporting with proactive risk identification and management including risk monitoring, thematic deep dives, maintenance of compliance obligations and arrangements, and control implementation, improvement and assessments
  • Enhancing and maintaining data quality across various systems, and delivering analysis and reporting to committees and business partners leveraging data, dashboards and trend analysis to generate insights and advise on risk improvement opportunities
  • Providing risk advice on business change initiatives under the Change Management Risk Standard (CMRS) to support safe delivery
  • Building strong risk awareness and culture within RO
  • Implementing continuous improvement in risk processes for RO and the Risk Advisory team
  • Supporting Line 2 reviews, audits and other external assurance activities

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Solid experience in operational risk management ideally within retail banking
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Operational and Compliance Risk Management Frameworks and experience with issues and incidents, risk profiles and controls
  • Ability to think critically, analyse data, identify risks and issues, solve problems and recommend actions
  • Business partnering experience with excellent written and verbal communication skills, in providing concise and clear advice
