We are currently seeking a Risk Analyst to join our Risk team at InCommodities - North America. The team's primary purpose is to establish and maintain a solid risk management framework that, through extensive market knowledge, risk monitoring, and tool automation, ensures our trading teams are well-equipped to take the best possible positions in the markets.

Headquartered in Aarhus, Denmark- often referred to as the Silicon Valley of energy trading- we operate with a truly global perspective, extending our activities across Europe, Asia Pacific, and North America.
In 2020, we expanded our US presence by establishing an office in Austin, Texas. Today, our NA organization covers both power and natural gas. You will be the first Risk Analyst joining our CFO Office and will be working on various tasks and projects related to risk management, ranging from building and optimizing tools ensuring a complete overview of our markets, credit, liquidity, and operational risk. This is a unique chance to apply your academic skills in a professional setting where your work will directly impact our way of monitoring risk.
Your journey as Risk Analyst
During your onboarding, you will be introduced to your tasks and responsibilities by working closely together with colleagues in the Austin office and the Risk team in Europe, who currently covers our operations within our risk management. Gradually, you will take on the full responsibility enabling you to work with a high level of autonomy. Cross-team collaboration continues to be crucial in our ongoing mission to ensure that our risk framework always identifies and captures risk in the best possible way.
This is a unique opportunity to advance your programming skills, build solid domain knowledge, and gain crucial insight and experience by working with some of the brightest minds in the energy trading industry.
Responsibilities - you will:

  • Maintain existing and develop new tools, including owning and operating the VaR engine
  • Maintain and optimize risk mandates across all trading activities
  • Obtain a high level of understanding of the market domain to effectively collaborate with front office teams and align on products, strategies, trading limits and expectations
  • Advise and challenge front office when necessary
  • Take ownership and autonomy on quantitative risk projects
  • Take part in identifying potential risks when entering new markets
  • Participate in evaluations of the entire risk framework together with the team to ensure best practice risk overviews and procedures are implemented and emerging risks are identified
  • Various day-to-day risk operations depending on current market situations
  • Report on and escalate risk incidents or breaches of limits
  • Stress-test open power and gas positions where liquidity risk arises
  • Be located in or willing to move to Austin, TX.


Qualifications - we imagine that you:

  • Recently graduated with a bachelor's degree or a master's degree in economics, finance, mathematics, engineering, computer science or similar.
  • Have strong mathematical and statistical skills
  • Are eager to work with data mining and data analysis
  • Are experienced within or have basic knowledge of programming languages, ideally Python, R, and SQL
