We are looking for a Research Scientist to contribute to the development of innovative technical and policy solutions for the global semiconductor industry. As a research scientist, you will work closely with faculty at Carnegie Mellon and elsewhere across the country to conduct research on various aspects of semiconductor design, fabrication, testing, and supply chain management, project management across multiple disciplines. Your work will contribute to creating the intellectual foundations and analytical tools to support policymakers in designing critical technology strategies that realize their multiple objectives (national security, economic prosperity and social welfare objectives).

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Leading integrative research across the semiconductor supply chain thrust with other CMU researchers and researchers at affiliated institutions

  • leveraging a wide range of empirics and modeling techniques to solve real-world technology policy problems

  • Raising money for research (including federal and foundation grant-writing and industry partners), in relationship management with internal and external partners, and in conducting research to inform government practice.

  • Participating in the broader scientific community, including mentoring colleagues and representing the center and/or specific projects at conferences, consortia meetings and other event.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in engineering, science, or related field (PhD preferred)

  • 3 years of experience working with industry, academia, and government focused on semiconductor technology and supply chain management issues.

  • The ability to work with a wide variety of people and have a start-up attitude where no task is too little or too big.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
