The Language Technologies Institute (LTI) at Carnegie Mellon University is a world-renowned research and education hub at the forefront of natural language processing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction. Established within the School of Computer Science, LTI pioneers innovative approaches to understanding, processing, and generating human language in both written and spoken forms.

We are seeking a Research Associate. This role is to conduct research on healthcare foundation models and their applications in various healthcare scenarios.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform research on healthcare AI, including pretraining of foundation models on healthcare data
  • Design various downstream tasks that reflect real healthcare workflow scenarios
  • Work in a team of AI researchers and healthcare professionals to design, develop, and train foundation models in healthcare data
  • Evaluate the trained models in various healthcare downstream applications.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree
  • 1-3 years of experience working in AI and healthcare
  • Experience with Deep Learning, NLP, and healthcare AI
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
