About the Role:
We are looking for an outstanding individual to join the Molecular Biology team as a Research Associate. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with standard molecular biology techniques and a strong desire to learn about building great products for solving complex biological problems. You should enjoy working in a fast-paced, innovative and truly multi-disciplinary environment. You will interact with colleagues in Cell Biology, Chemistry, Microfluidics, and Computational Biology. You will apply your skills and knowledge to support product development.
What you will be doing:
- Support the method development and optimization of novel molecular biology assay schemes including molecular barcoding, nucleic acid amplification, and NGS library preparation
- Develop an understanding of the interplay between molecular biology, chemistry, and microfluidics
- Plan and perform experiments, accurately record experimental details, and analyze subsequent data with guidance
- Report these results through documentation and presentations
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Current college junior/senior pursuing BS/MS/PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry or a related field and 1+ years of hands-on molecular biology experience in an academic or industrial setting
- Proficiency in standard molecular biology techniques such as cell/tissue preparation, nucleic acid purification (RNA/DNA) and amplification, qPCR, and DNA sequencing
- Courses taken in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, biotechnology
- Familiarity with basic data analysis tools such as Excel
- Familiarity with lab best practices for avoiding nucleic acid cross-contamination
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
