Design and synthesize the next generation compounds by application of medicinal chemistry knowledge to the analysis of potency, DMPK, and off-target selectivity data. Provide support, guidance, and mentorship for experiment design, data analysis, and result communication back to the team. Contribute to exploratory research, lead optimization projects, and collaborate closely with colleagues in other groups. Summarize and interpret data and present findings in research meetings. Maintain detailed experimental records. Maintain research lab productivity by adhering to outlined group responsibilities and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
Must have at least 1 year of prior work experience in each of the following:
- Generating synthetic proposals for targets and drawing on MarvinSketch or ChemDraw for use in PowerPoint presentations to communicate objectives and progress in research.
- Isolating final compounds and reaction intermediates using at least two of the following purification techniques: silica gel, reverse phase prep HPLC, and/or recrystallization.
- Performing analytical techniques to confirm identity and purity of compounds including NMR, MS, HPLC, and melting point.
- Using at least one of the following software infrastructures for research: Reaxys or SciFinder for literature search, ChemCart for chemical inventory, MOE for molecular modeling, or StarDrop for compound design.
- Maintaining laboratory experiments for record and reproducibility through electronic notebook including E-WorkBook or CDD vault.
- Referencing, integrating, and tabulating NMR data through NMR processing software including MestreNova.
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Chemistry or related field
Experience Required: 3 years of experience as Research Associate, Organic Chemist, or related occupation
