Remote Bookkeeper with QuickBooks Expertise

About Us: ShakaCode is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented bookkeeper with experience in QuickBooks to join our team. The ideal candidate will excel in handling sensitive financial data, ensuring accuracy in all records, and demonstrating the highest level of integrity. As we expand our operations, we need a professional with a strong background in U.S. accounting standards who can help us manage and safeguard our financial records remotely.

Position Overview: The Remote Bookkeeper will record financial transactions and reconcile bank statements. This role requires an individual with solid QuickBooks knowledge, strong familiarity with "cash basis accounting," and experience working with confidential financial data. The successful candidate will be proactive in identifying discrepancies, secure in handling sensitive information, and skilled at working independently.

Key Responsibilities:

• QuickBooks Management: Maintain accurate records of financial transactions, expenses, and revenue, ensuring all entries are current and correctly categorized.
• Bank Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliation of U.S. bank accounts, reviewing each transaction for accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare regular financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Tax Preparation Support: Assist in organizing documents for U.S. tax filings.
• Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage incoming and outgoing payments, ensuring timely processing and accurate record-keeping.
• Communication and Collaboration: Provide U.S.-based tax professionals with accurate reporting and compliance data.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years in bookkeeping, with a preference for experience working with U.S.-based clients.
• Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in QuickBooks (certification preferred) and familiarity with remote work tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack).
• Attention to Detail: High accuracy in data entry and reconciliation, with a proactive approach to identifying and correcting errors
• .Security and Confidentiality: Proven experience in handling sensitive financial data securely, with an understanding of data encryption practices and secure document management.
• Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills in English
• Self-motivation: Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Preferred Skills:

• Accounting Knowledge: Understanding of U.S. "cash basis accounting" and how that flows to tax preparation and compliance for small businesses.
• Multi-Currency Transactions: Experience handling transactions in multiple currencies and providing accurate financial forecasting.
