About us:
Aeva is building the next generation of sensing and perception for autonomous vehicles and beyond. With its unique ability to measure instantaneous velocity for each pixel, long-range performance at high resolutions, while being free from LiDAR or sunlight interference, Aeva’s 4D LiDAR is built from the ground up at silicon photonics scale for mass-market applications.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an accomplished Reliability Engineering Manager to lead Aeva’s efforts in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of reliability, durability, and regulatory compliance. In this pivotal position, you will define the strategy and lead the execution of reliability validation, regulatory compliance, product safety certifications, and industry standards integration across Aeva’s automotive and industrial platforms.
What you'll do:
- Develop and implement reliability engineering strategies, plans, and processes across Aeva’s product portfolio.
- Establish reliability metrics, track performance, and report to leadership.
- Lead reliability prediction, accelerated life testing (ALT), and field data analysis.
- Setup in-house test environments (e.g., thermal & humidity, shock & vibe, ingress, EMC) for initial assessment and supervise third party labs during final validation testing.
- Conduct root cause analysis, troubleshoot and debug failures, and assist the engineering team by identifying and implementing corrective actions.
- Drive product compliance with relevant international and industrial standards (e.g., CE, FCC, RoHS, REACH).
- Lead external certification and homologation efforts in collaboration with test labs and regulatory bodies.
- Document compliance by completing approval applications, preparing and filing Declarations of Conformity, and maintaining a centralized compliance database.
- Participate in mechanical and electrical design reviews to identify and resolve reliability and regulatory compliance issues early in the development cycle.
- Work with manufacturing and operations to establish production reliability controls and incoming material reliability validation.
- Interface with customer quality and compliance teams during program execution and product launch.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and regulatory changes to influence Aeva’s product roadmap and ensure future readiness.
- Build and mentor a high-performing team of reliability and compliance engineers.
What you'll have:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience working in Reliability, Compliance, or EMC Testing roles.
- Hands-on experience with reliability testing methods such as ALT, HALT, HASS, and Weibull analysis.
- Solid understanding of automotive quality standards such as IATF 16949 and VDA.
- Expert knowledge of US and international regulatory codes applicable to automotive and industrial products, including but not limited to RoHS, REACH, and WEEE.
- Experienced in preparing and submitting certification documentation through relevant compliance and regulatory bodies such as the FDA, FCC, CE, UL, or TUV.
- Hands-on experience performing and analyzing EMC, EMI, HiPot, ESD, and RF tests.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to define complex problem statements, identify root cause, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to new challenges within a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, enabling effective interaction with internal teams, suppliers, and executive stakeholders.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Nice to haves:
- Automotive LiDAR or RADAR experience
- Experience with LabVIEW and NI Instruments
What's in it for you:
- Be part of a fast-paced and dynamic team shaping the future of precision sensing.
- Very competitive compensation and meaningful equity.
- Exceptional benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and more.
- Unlimited PTO: We care about results, not punching timecards.
