Position Summary
The Reliability Engineer plays a strategic role in enhancing the long-term reliability of the site through projects, programs, and studies. This role involves improving multi-disciplinary reliability capabilities, ensuring compliance with plant and PSM mechanical integrity requirements, and providing leadership, mentorship, and direction to in-house teams and contractors. The focus is on diagnosing equipment reliability challenges and recommending actions to improve equipment availability across the site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop, organize, and train teams on Reliability Program tasks, including:

Lubrication standards and cycling programs.

Vibration Monitoring Programs.

Rotating equipment Laser Alignment adherence.
-

Ensure site compliance with PSM Mechanical Integrity Programs and relevant standards.

Manage Mechanical Integrity Program implementation and adherence to standards, including API, STI, ASME, Illinois Boiler Regulations, and NFPA fire prevention requirements.

Oversee Combustion Equipment, Atmospheric, and Pressure Vessel inspections, ensuring production teams are notified of testing schedules.

Conduct quarterly and annual reliability update meetings to align plant departments.

Serve as a technical resource for capital projects, incident investigations, and reliability initiatives.

Review equipment designs, identify potential failures, and recommend design improvements.

Develop and implement maintenance practices to maximize equipment uptime.

Utilize reliability engineering tools like FMEAs, MTBF measurements, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to enhance reliability.

Support production and maintenance teams by diagnosing issues and improving equipment effectiveness.

Identify and initiate process improvements to boost financial performance, efficiency, and safety.
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum of 10 years of chemical plant-based maintenance and engineering experience.

Minimum of 5 years of reliability engineering experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Talents

Certification in Reliability Engineering (preferred).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate data and apply technical solutions.

Ability to multitask and manage projects in a fast-paced environment.

Proficient computer skills and utilities management experience.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building positive relationships across all levels.

Adaptable to changing environments and committed to operational efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

Strong knowledge of reliability processes, PSM Mechanical Integrity requirements, and industry standards (API, NBIC, etc.).

Experience in GMP environments, such as food, beverage, or pharmaceutical industries.
Pay and Benefits
The estimated base pay range for this position is: $96,000 - $144,000 annually. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, qualifications, skills and geographic location. This position is eligible to participate in a short-term incentive program.
