Summary
We seek an experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead our Agile Release Train (ART) and ensure successful customer value delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Agile methodologies, excellent leadership skills, and experience living in the DMV region with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) initiatives. The RTE will facilitate collaboration among cross-functional teams, manage program-level ceremonies, and drive continuous organizational improvement.

- By leading Agile Release Train (ART) ceremonies and collaborating with key roles like Product Management and System Architects, this role ensures that goals and deliverables are consistently aligned across teams and stakeholders. Promotes cohesion in achieving program objectives, resulting in streamlined workflows and fewer delays caused by miscommunication
- Leveraging Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) knowledge to accelerate development cycles for CMS-related initiatives while ensuring compliance is crucial in healthcare.
- Identifying risks and mitigating impediments supports ART in achieving timely and valuable outcomes. Increasing predictability in delivery reduces costly delays and builds stakeholder trust in program reliability.
- Tracking performance metrics and fostering continuous improvement drives efficiency and quality in Agile processes. Enhancing team productivity, encourages innovation, and supports informed decision-making at all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Agile Release Train (ART) by facilitating key ceremonies, including Program Increment (PI) planning, Scrum of Scrums, and System Demos.
- Collaborate with product management, system architects, and stakeholders to ensure the alignment of program goals and deliverables.
- Leverage experience with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to drive the integration of CMS-related projects into the development process, ensuring that workflows align with Agile practices.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process enhancements based on feedback and metrics.
- Identify and mitigate risks and impediments that may hinder the progress of the ART, ensuring timely delivery of value.
- Track and report on key metrics to measure the performance of the ART, providing insights to stakeholders and facilitating data-driven decision-making.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to teams on Agile principles and practices, fostering a high-performing team environment.
- Maintain open lines of communication with all stakeholders, ensuring transparency and addressing concerns proactively.
Skills and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Management, or a related field.
- Live within a commutable distance of Baltimore, MD to occasionally attend onsite customer meetings
- 5+ years of experience in Agile project management, with at least 3 years as a Release Train Engineer or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and experience in implementing these frameworks.
- Excellent facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., SAFe RTE, Scrum Master, Agile Coach) are a plus.
Additional Qualifications and Project-Specific Needs:
- Proven experience with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) initiatives and programs.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or during meetings.
- Must be able to travel occasionally to client sites or company meetings, which may involve driving or flying.
- Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person, requiring clear speech, listening, and written communication skills.
- Ability to move within an office environment, including reaching for files, using office equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).
