About the Role

The Regional Accountant in Morocco is a key member of the Global Finance department. The role will be involved in accounting and administration of the G Adventures local company based in Morocco and other supported entities.

This role is a hybrid role based out of Marrakesh, where a set number of days is required in office by the region.

What you'll be doing

  • Plan, organize and direct the activities of the Morocco entity's accounting and financial reporting functions in support of overall company strategies and objectives, as established by the executive team.

  • Records transactions and retains all accounting records

  • Post, verify and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations. Preparation of the month-end activities and preparation of entity's trial balance

  • Preparation of monthly reporting package to the Global Finance team including balance sheet account reconciliations and flux analysis. 

  • Preparation of annual accounting package for the tax return to provide to our external advisors

  • Work closely with the global Finance team within the group of companies

  • Analyze and research any variances and use analytical skills to assess a variety of financial data to identify improvements and make recommendations

  • Manage all local audits including the year-end review and any regulatory/tax audits Ensuring quality control over financial transactions & financial reporting

  • Manage budgetary oversight, including reviewing actual expenditures against budgeted allocations and presenting findings to senior leadership

  • Assisting in annual business license and insurance renewals, if required

  • Any other ad hoc duties that are assigned by the Finance Manager and local management. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Proven work experience as an Accountant, preferably in a similar industry

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel 

  • Intermediate English skills (written and oral) 

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Analytical with a strong attention to detail 

  • Good understanding and use of financial and operating systems 

  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, environment, with strict deadlines Self-motivated and goal oriented 

  • Problem solving skills
