Overview of the Role:

The Receptionist will report to our EA to the CEO, supporting daily operations and administration for our office, onsite events, and so on.

This is a part-time role, specifically on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:30 am to 3 pm.

This position is based fully onsite at our Brisbane office, 199 Grey St, South Brisbane, QLD 4101.

A non-exhaustive list of responsibilities is outlined below, and a full list will be provided at the first interview stage.

We'll be looking for someone who is self-motivated, and thrives in a high-trust environment to get things done.

Receptionist:

• Monitoring the reception desk, greeting visitors and receiving deliveries.
• Maintaining the office, ensuring it is kept tidy, stocked, and handling ad hoc tasks.
• Act as the first point of contact for anything office-related.

Administration Assistant:

• Assist with calendar coordination and creating meetings for our leaders, with global time-zones and busy schedules.
• Occasionally there are bigger events (either in or out of the office that may require support).
• Overseeing onsite events when our interstate and international team visit throughout the year.
• Searching for venues as part of event planning and coordination.
• Managing email inboxes.

Compensation:

Octopus has an internally open and transparent system for compensation. Any Octonaut can view the compensation for any role at any level. This ensures people doing the same work with the same skill get paid the same.

The compensation for this role is:

Level 1 - Receptionist

AUD $37,500 + Super

This is part-time role is 50% of the salary and hours of a full-time equivalent ($75,000).

[30 min] Meet with Talent Acquisition and get a feel for what it would be like to be an Octonaut!

🤝Interview

[45 Min] Join the hiring manager and a peer from IT Operations, where you'll get to know your each other, while exploring your experience, and the role requirements. There will be a mix of role-specific questions, and potentially a simple exercise to understand how you approach tasks.

🐙Office Visit

After a positive interview with the hiring manager, we may organise an in-person meet-and-greet at our office, where you will meet one of your peers from the IT Operations team.

• The sender uses email domains that do not end in @octopus.com (e.g., name.sr.octopus.com or generic addresses like @yahoo.com or @hotmail.com).

• Poor spelling and grammar in emails or official-looking documents.

• Requests for payment, financial details, or fees to proceed in the hiring process.

• Receiving a check and being asked to deposit it for equipment purchases before employment.

• Contacting you through informal channels such as WhatsApp, particularly in the United States.

• Pressure to act quickly or threats of losing the opportunity if immediate action is not taken.
